The Neighbourhood Plan when it is completed has the same legal force as the Borough’s development plan and allows us to define – within limits – what development is to be allowed in the neighbourhood.
Our Neighbourhood Area was formally designated by the Cabinet of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council at its meeting on 16 September 2015. Please see the Borough’s website for further information.
The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group comprises people from each of the three Parish Councils and a number of volunteer residents. Since its formal designation as a Qualifying Body it counts as a statutory planning body.
The Neighbourhood Plan is separate from the activities of the Action Group although the Steering Group does make formal representations to NuLBC about significant planning applications in the designated area and will be doing so regarding the Meadow Way development.
